Vertrouwen

“Vertrouwen” was built in 1955 at Concordia shipyard in Amsterdam. It has served as a fishing cutter for 20 years and was specially built for the harsh weather conditions of the Northern North Sea. Her first registration was UK5 from Urk, followed by BR5 from Breskens and VL5 from Vlissingen. The many years of hard work can still be seen in the scars that Vertrouwen has suffered.

Vertrouwen was destroyed in 1975 by a fierce fire and for that reason she ended up at a ship-breaking yard. Luckily she found a new owner by Mr Hos from Zaandam who rebuild her as a schooner in just 2 years.

In that time Vertrouwen got a new “Industrie 4VD6” engine and her length was brought back to her initial length of 1955.

From 1977 until the late 90s, Vertrouwen has been used extensively for charters in the North Sea, Norwegian sea and Baltic Sea, but it has also sailed the Atlantic Ocean.

When Mr. Hos quit with his company, he sold Vertrouwen in a worn out condition to a ship broker. In the years who followed Vertrouwen had it’s berth in Zaandam and it sailed just a couple of times. However, the new owner was planning to prepare the ship for a trip around the world. He made many modifications and renovations to the ship during this period.

In November 2014, Rini and Megan finally buy Vertrouwen to realize their ideals and plans. After many years of renovating, overhauling and painting, Vertrouwen is now again in the top condition which it deserves and needs to take its passengers safely across the seven seas!
